Harlem Half Studio

Harlem Half Studio is a new live/work apartment in Upper Manhattan. A precise manipulation of the existing apartment’s “back-of-house” assets creates a shared studio space for two artists, a hallway gallery, a kitchen, and a new connection between living and working areas.

West facing windows provide strong sunrise and sunset lighting, informing the choice of colors and materials. Throughout, the original unit’s mid-century character is left intact, while the sculptural walls provide masks of color to all social spaces.
